Percussion Festival

This year’s Percussion Festival features Dr. Thomas Burritt, Director of Percussion Studies at The University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Burritt will perform a solo marimba recital to open the festival at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7. The Percussion Festival will continue on Saturday, Feb. 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with clinics by Dr. Burritt and Dr. Neil Sisauyhoat, DMC Assistant Professor of Music. The festival will also include a performance by the Sisauyhoat/McClung Percussion Duo, the DMC Percussion Ensemble and high school percussion students performing from around the Coastal Bend. The festival provides students the opportunity to gain feedback they need to prepare and succeed during their upcoming solo and ensemble competitions.

Festival registration is required with $20 pre-registration taken through Feb. 5 and $25 the day of the event. Ticket charge for the Friday evening concert is $5 or free for faculty, staff and students with valid DMC ID. Festival Registrants will receive free admission to the Friday evening concert.

Saturday, Feb. 8, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Percussion Festival continues.
