Grab the bait and tackle and get ready to fish for a cause!

Del Mar College and LNV Inc., a local engineering, architecture and contracting company, are partnering to host the fourth annual “Stringers for Scholarships” fishing tournament to raise funds for student scholarships.

The tournament features two divisions––guided and non-guided fishing.

The two-day event opens with a Captain’s Party from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 16 at Marker 37 (13317 South Padre Island Drive) with free food sponsored by Saltwater Grill, drinks and a sneak peek at door prizes and raffle items.

At least one team member must attend the party to pick up packets with tournament rules, goodie bags and other items.

Fishing runs from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 17 with angler weigh-in between 1 and 3 p.m.

The tournament includes awards for different categories, and side pot payouts also are available for an additional fee.

To access team entry fee/sponsorship info, tournament rules, an entry form in PDF format and other information, visit and click the “Stringers for Scholarships” button.
